C’est La Vie goes Rep

We are trying something new here at CLV: We are rehearsing 3 plays in repertory. For this to work, I cast all three plays last Tuesday, and while the casts are not identical there is definitely some overlap. We are in beginning week 2 of 3 weeks of rehearsal and 3 plays: Nadine Thornhill’s Oreo, Jim Burke’s Bestiary, and Joel Fishbane’s In the Yichud Room. We have begun rehearsals on Oreo and Bestiary and tonight we have our first read through of In the Yichud Room! One week in, I have found this to be a more rewarding way to work, though it does have its own scheduling headaches. The great thing about working this way it that there is more time in between rehearsals for each show, and this means that we have more time to get to know one another, but it also means that there is more time for the characters to marinate in the actors heads. Which makes for good salads…I mean podcasts.

In case you were wondering I am also still fiddling around with the tech stuff. I did manage to get an iTunes link, but I used the wrong rss feed, so now I have to go back and try to correct it. Thank goodness I still have a couple weeks to work out the kinks before the April 12th Launch.

Test RSS Feed

So I am not a techie, and while I have some great technical people aka Conor, working on the sound for this project, I am still mucking about trying to figure out what an RSS feed is, how to get one and how that helps me.

So as a part of that endeavour, I am posting this short test MP3 to see if my feed is working and I can set up an iTunes Podcast page.

So bear with me.

Test

PS. It should be noted that this is just me talking into my macbook mic, not using the professional mics that we have the actors using for the recordings, that is why it is so echoey.

Exciting!!!

Tonight has been very exciting. Hence the title. I got to listen to a first edit of our first recording. IT SOUNDS AMAZING!!!! I want to shout it from the roof tops and email it to everyone I know. Instead, I am forcing myself to have some restraint, and respect my launch date of April 12th. It also helps that there is still some work to do on this recording.

The second really exciting thing, is a huge outpouring of support in the form of likes on our facebook page www.facebook/cestlavietheatr. I asked for a little help, and I got a ton, and so now we do have an official page as you can see through the link above. So a big thank you to everyone who likes us, we like you too!!! If you don’t like us yet, you should give it a try.

Third, we have started to get subscriptions to the blog! Which is awesome, and a little scary since I guess I am going to have to be a captivating writer, not my strongest talent. Maybe I can get away with self-deprecating and sincere instead.

So all around a very exciting day!

Our First Recording!!!

The Sound Studio

We have officially recorded our first podcast. It is in the can – as they say. It was an amazing experience, and a thing of beauty to watch actors come together with perfect delivery, Conor our sound tech set up with everything working, and me trying not to cough. I wish I had thought to take photos in the moment.  But for now you will have to be satisfied with a few shots I took afterwards, alone in the studio. I am now looking forward to the editing session this Saturday!
